Defensive Back

Penn State Football already has a couple defensive backs committed in the 2022 class, but they’re after more.

The commits include 3-star JUCO safety Tyrece Mills and 3-star cornerback Jordan Allen. Flowers is also committed, and as mentioned before, he could end up at defensive back.

Cornerbacks coach Terry Smith and safeties coach Anthony Poindexter each have a few targets left on their boards.

For Smith, he could get good news soon, as 4-star cornerback Cam Miller tweeted he will make his decision on Monday. Penn State is in his top two, along with Virginia Tech. With Miller being a Florida recruit, Seider has helped in this one as well. Miller and Allen would be a solid haul, to go along with Kalen King, Jeffrey Davis Jr and Zakee Wheatley in the 2021 class.

Poindexter may also receive some good news before the month ends. Driver has said he will commit on July 29 and another target, 3-star Kevin Winston recently moved his announcement from the end of August to July 31. The hope is that he made that move to ensure he had a spot in Penn State’s class.

Penn State could realistically end up with four safeties in this class between Mills, Flowers, Winston and Driver. One of them will likely end up at another position in the end, but Poindexter could wind up with a versatile group.
