West Virginia’s impact on other sports

West Virginia’s best other mainstream sport is likely Track and Field.

Their women’s program has fielded 31 NCAA All-Americans and finished in the top 10 twice in the last ten years.  Other women’s teams include tennis, volleyball, swimming, soccer, rowing, and gymnastics.  They also field the following men’s programs: baseball, golf, soccer, swimming, and wrestling.

The other notable sport that the Mountineers succeed is Rifle.  A sport likely not familiar to Nittany Lions fans (only 40 NCAA schools participate), they’ve won 19 NCAA Championships and have another 7 runner up’s.   Their program features 65 All-American’s and, given the Olympic games opening in Tokyo, an impressive 13 Olympians, most notably Ginny Thrasher, who won gold in the 2016 Rio games.
