Basketball

Coached by the legendary Bob “Teddy Bear” Huggins, the Mountaineer basketball program is, well, miles ahead of the Nittany Lions men’s basketball program.

WVU has made 8 of the last 11 NCAA Tournaments, compared to Penn State’s, um…one.

The Mountaineers’ last conference championship was in the Big East, never being able to win the Big 12.  They made the Sweet Sixeen four times in the last decade and made a Final Four in 2010.

Mike Carey has led the women’s team every year since the turn of the millenium and has taken the Mountaineers dancing ten of the last fourteen years.  While they don’t have the history of the men’s program (or the Lady Lions’ program), their success the last few years wildly outpaces Penn State’s.  T

hey likely wouldn’t be competing for a Big Ten title this year, they’d certainly be ranked ahead of Penn State in any preseason standings.
