Here’s Penn State Basketball’s ideal 2021 starting five
By Evan Smith
Depth, depth, depth …
Myles Dread and Sam Sessoms coming off the bench give a nice offensive spark to the second unit.
Sessoms could play minutes at either backcourt position and Dread can play either forward position (although as discussed it would be much nicer to see him at the 3 than the 4). Both play hard and their returns were key for Shrewsberry.
The other key bench player will be the aforementioned JUCO transfer, Jevonnie Scott.
Other players currently listed on Penn State’s roster are Caleb Dorsey (F), Dallion Johnson (G), and Andy Christos (G), all played incredibly sparingly last year and will have to improve this off-season to get contributing minutes this year.
That’s only 11 players, however, so hopefully, we’ll see a few more sign-on before the season starts. Eight rotation players will be very difficult in a full Big Ten Conference season so the opportunity is there for Dorsey or Johnson can crack their way into that rotation.
