Penn State Basketball in NBA Playoffs continues, thanks to Tim Frazier
By Evan Smith
Tim Frazier is making sure Penn State Basketball has some representation in the 2021 NBA Playoffs, with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Frazier is Penn State’s lone representative still playing NBA hoops this season. Signed for his veteran experience mid-way through the season, Tim Frazier has appeared in five games thus far, averaging 1.6 points and an impressive 3.2 assists in just over 12 minutes a game.
Frazier was first team conference performer for the Nittany Lions, known for his tenacious defense and ability to distribute the ball. Frazier was the starting point guard for the Lion’s last NCAA Tournament team (2011), paired with now former coach Talor Battle in the backcourt. A former three star recruit from Houston, Texas, Frazier tore his Achillies as the start of his senior year and was forced to take a redshirt year, where he was named to both a Senior CLASS Award finalist and the Bob Cousey Award watch list.
Frazier has been playing in the NBA since the 2015 season. Frazier went undrafted and played in the D-League, where he won Rookie of the Year and MVP in 2015, earning his first NBA contract the hard way.
Frazier’s Memphis Grizzlies defeated the San Antonio Spurs last night and now will play Lakers on Friday to become the No. 8 seed in the NBA Playoffs. Frazier did not play in last night’s game.
