ESPN released their college football schedule for the first few weeks of the season Tuesday, and Penn State Football drew a favorable kickoff time for their matchup with Auburn

It looks like ‘White Out’ conditions could be in the forecast for Penn State Football’s week three matchup with Auburn in Happy Valley.

ESPN announced earlier today that the enormous non-conference battle will kickoff at 7:30pm on ABC in primetime with Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler in the booth. Whether or not Gameday follows and makes their way to State College is yet to be seen, but looking at the slate of games for that week, it is probably a safe assumption.

The recent change in guidelines from the CDC along with the state of Pennsylvania opening up Phillies games to full capacity starting in June is a good sign we may have a full 110,000 fans in attendance for this one inside Beaver Stadium, as well.

The return to normalcy, the return to a home field advantage will be a welcomed sight for the Nittany Lions who went 2-3 at home last season.

It is a welcomed sight to have non-conference games back in 2021 after last season where the Big Ten went to a conference only schedule due to Covid-19. Auburn and Penn State Football are certainly one of the headline non-conference clashes, and ESPN seems to agree as this one will headline week 3.

Auburn went 6-5 last season, capping their season off with a Citrus Bowl loss to Northwestern on New Year’s Day. They are a program in a bit of transition after firing Gus Malzahn in the offseason and bringing in former Boise State head coach Bryan Harsin. They do return star quarterback Bo Nix, who will be in his third year under center but lost his tow leading receivers to the NFL Draft last month.

This will be a tremendous litmus test for both programs early in the season, and a chance for the winner to potentially make a statement to the college football world that they are back in 2021 after disappointing 2020 seasons.
