Former Penn State Football defensive tackle trashes Tim Tebow Signing
By Evan Smith
New Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Urban Meyer shocked the NFL world this week, by signing former quarterback Tim Tebow to a one year contract as a tight end.
Tebow, who hasn’t played in the NFL since 2012, played in 37 games over his three year NFL career for the Broncos and Jets. He was featured mostly as a quarterback despite struggling to complete half his passes and was known best as a runner and influential leader. He did lead the Broncos to the palyofs in 2011 and threw a “walk-off” sudden death winner over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Many people criticized this signing since Meyer coached Tebow at Florida and saying this was a waste of a potential roster spot.
Daquan Jones, former Penn State Football defensive tackle, went one step further;
"“This Tebow deal just shows that personal relationships go further at this level than actual ability.”"
Strong words from the eight-year NFL vet.
Jones, who started all 16 games for the Titans last year, finished with 49 tackles and had two sacks and one forced fumble. On his twitter account, @RiDQulous_98, Jones made his opinions very clear on the Tebow signing. While his opinion mirrored much of what the media has said since the May 10th signing, Jones took a strong public stance that likely mirrors how some other NFL players feel.
While Jones’ former team will play the Jaguars twice this year, Daquan and the Panthers won’t see the Jaguars this year.
