No. 2: Week 9 – at Maryland

Penn State Football’s 2021 matchup with Maryland could potentially feel earily familiar to the one this past fall.

In Week 8, the Nittany Lions will travel to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes, the week before they travel to Maryland. In 2020, Franklin’s squad lost to Ohio State and followed it up with a the stinker of the year —  a 16 point home loss to the Terps.

Penn State Football should be bothered by the Terps loss and then social media troll job afterward, but they are an improved program under Locksley and seem to have the quarterback situation figured out with Taulia Tagovailoa.

One knock on Franklin’s teams in the past is they have shown a propensity to let losses linger, following up a loss with a loss. It happened in 2017 and 2018, both of which beginning with a loss to their foes from Columbus.

If the Nittany Lions were to drop a game to Ryan Day and company on October 30th, they could be licking their wounds as they walk into this game, and as we saw last year, Maryland will get up for this opportunity and take full advantage of it if Penn State Football let’s them.
