Former Penn State Football nose tackle, and one of the longest tenured Tennessee Titans, Daquan Jones is expected to sign with the Carolina Panthers

Former Penn State Football defensive lineman DaQuan Jones will visit the Carolina Panthers Tuesday, and is expected to sign a one-year contract, according to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Last season, Jones produced 49 total tackles, forced one fumble, made 26 run-stops, with three sacks and 22 total pressures. Pro Football Focus gave Jones a 67.7 overall grade, a 64.1 run-defense grade, and a 65.1 pass-rush mark after he appeared in 691 snaps for the Titans’ defense.

Jones, 29, spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, after originally being chosen in the fourth-round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Now, Jones will be moving on.

During his three seasons as an anchor along Penn State Football’s defensive line from 2011-through 2013, Jones produced 86 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 13.5 tackles for loss, as a disruptive force in opposing backfields.

With the Panthers, Jones arrives along a defensive line that includes Carolina’s second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Penn State’s Yetur Gross-Matos.

The Titans will likely turn to the NFL Draft to mine Jones’ replacement, after not signing a nose tackle in free agency and appearing to let Jones walk.
