Penn State Basketball head coach Micah Shrewsberry announced a crucial addition to his staff, hiring long time recruiting analyst Brian Snow as his Director of Recruiting.

Brian Snow is a national recruting analyst for Scout.com, who has written articles for Sports Illustrated and most recently for 247 Sports.  He announced on March 24th his departure from the 247Sports scene, stating his excitement for his “new and exciting challenge.”  Now we know what he meant … A seat on Shrewsberry’s bench at Penn State Basketball.

This hire is a big deal for new Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry, as recruting is everything in today’s collegiate athletic scene.

This “new age” hire shows Shrewsberry understands the pivotal role relationships with high school scene will play in Penn State’s future success.  Pat Chambers spent many years developing the “Philadelphia Pipeline” and hopefully some remnants will remain for Brian Snow to work with and further develop using his experience running a popular high school scouting service for college coaches.

Micah Shrewsberry has now developed the following staff:

Head Coach — Micah Shrewsberry

Associate HC — Adam Fisher

Assitant Coach(s) — Aki Collins, Mike Farrelly

Assistant to the HC — Talor Battle

Chief of Staff — Nick Colella

Director of Recruiting — Brian Snow

Also of note is long-time Penn State trainer Jon Salazer is still listed as the Associate Director of Athletic Training Services on the official Penn State website, meaning he will likely stay with the program under this regime change.
