No. 7

Mark Hall
Career Record: 116-6
B1G Titles: 3 (2018-2020)
NCAA Titles: 1 (2017)
All-American: 3 (2017-2019)

Does anyone remember the “what if’s?” with Vincenzo Joseph?

The same absolutely rings true in the case of Mark Hall’s career. Do you know how many wrestling greats on this list won NCAA Titles their freshman year? Two. Vincenzo Joseph and Mark Hall.

In his sophomore season, Hall then went on to compile a perfect record of 27-0 and took home his 1st B1G Title following the 2018 B1G Championships. In the 2018 NCAA’s, Hall breezed through the first four matches and looked to put his perfect season on the line against Arizona State’s Zahid Valencia.

But as fate would have it, Hall was unable to retain his title against Valencia and he had to settle for runner-up.

The same exact story played out for Hall in the 2019 season as he once again put his perfect 30-0 record up against Valencia in the second straight NCAA finals match up between the two.

And once again Valencia bested Hall and he took home runner-up for the second straight season.

Mark Hall was a man on a mission in the 2020 season. But there was a small bump in the road as he fell to Iowa’s Michael Kemerer in a late season dual.

Hall then avenged this loss in the 2020 B1G Championship Finals and bested Kemerer 8-5 to snag his 3rd consecutive B1G Title. Hall then had his eyes squarely on the 2020 NCAA Championships as he looked to win his 2nd title and finish either 1st or 2nd in all four years at Penn State.

Welp. We all know how the 2020 season ended. Hall never got a shot to put an exclamation point on his storied Penn State career.
