B1G Football: Ranking the top 5 non-conference matchups for 2021
‘White Out’ conditions on tap for an SEC-Big Ten battle in Happy Valley?
2. Auburn at Penn State Football – September 18th
Week 3 could present the first big game opportunity back in Beaver Stadium with fans in attendance, as Auburn will travel to meet the Nittany Lions.
Depending on how Penn State Football’s trip to Wisconsin goes in week 1, this game could be tabbed for primetime with ‘white out’ conditions on hand.
Auburn will return quarterback Bo Nix for his third season as starter but will need to replace their two best wide receivers who left for the NFL. The Tigers running back Tank Bigsby is a load to bring down, and will be a test for the Nittany Lions linebackers early in the season.
Just how much work offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich and offensive line coach Phil Trautwein put in this offseason will be on full display, as Auburn will feature one of the best defensive fronts and defenses as a whole Penn State Football will face all season.
If Beaver Stadium is back to a sold out crowd, the atmosphere should give Franklin’s squad a huge boost in this one, but it figures to be a low scoring, physical game.
If Penn State Football wants to prove last season was a fluke, win this game.
