Big Ten Network and NCAA.com’s Andy Katz reported Friday that former Penn State Basketball Interim Head Coach Jim Ferry is a finalist for the Central Connecticut State head coach opening.

On March 5th, CCSU announced that Donyell Marshall was stepping down as the head men’s basketball coach to pursue other opportunities.  He coach for the Blue Devils for the past five years, compiling a 40-104 (.278) record.  Marshall, the Reading PA native played in the NBA from 1994 to 2009 for the Timberwolves, Warriors, Jazz, Bulls, Raptors, Cavaliers, Supersonics and 76ers.

Initially, Katz was advocating the hiring of Hartford Basketball Coach John Gallagher but then sent the below follow-up tweet stating that Jim Ferry was still in the mix.  Hartford recently announced they are moving all athletic programs from Division 1 status to Division 3 status.

Jim Ferry was named the the interim head coach of Penn State Basketball in late October and led the Nittany Lions to an 11-14 season, finishing tied for 10th in the Big Ten Conference.  Prior to joining Pat Chambers as a top assistant, he coached for Duquesne form 2012 to 2017, which included one CBI Quarterfinal appearance.  Ferry has experience coaching in the Northeast Conference, where he led the Long Island Blackbirds from 2002 to 2012, with two NCAA Tournament births, making the second round each year.
