Rasir Bolton, third-team All Big 12 player for the Iowa State Cyclones, has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Bolton led the Cyclones in points, rebounds and assists in the 2020-2021 season, his second with the Cyclones.  Iowa State was able to play 24 games, finishing 2-22 on the season and winless in the Big 12 Conference, losing all eighteen conference games.  Bolton finished with 15.5 points per game, 3.9 assists and 4.8 rebounds.  He averaged over three turnovers a game and shot a paltry 31.4% from behind the arc.

Why does any of this matter to Victory Bell Rings readers?

Well, Rasir “Ra” Bolton used to be a Nittany Lion.

Bolton committed to the Nittany Lions in July of 2017 and enrolled at Penn State on June 1st, 2018.  He played in all 32 games as a Freshman, averaging 11.6 points and shooting over 36% from the three point arc.

Bolton was the on the receiving end of the now infamous “noose” comment (circa 2019) that eventually ended the Pat Chambers era at Penn State.

In full, Pat Chambers stated “(he) wanted to loosen the noose around (Ra’s) neck.”  Bolton went public with the statement about a year later in the summer of 2020.  After investigation, AD Sandy Barbour announced that Pat Chambers had “resigned” from the program, when in reality we all know he was fired.

His father actually announced his transfer from Penn State on May 28, 2019, and this was his quote: “He’s ready … he’s really not a kid that’s needing for a lot of attention.”

Now, Bolton is heading to his third college in 3+ years after playing for four different high schools…
