Plans on how to build a roster

Greeted with great applause (?), Penn State Athletic Director Sandy Barbour spoke about why Micah Shrewsberry was the right fit.

Check out some of the quotes from her introduction and see if you can figure out who’s she’s referencing without saying his name:

“We wanted to find the right leader”

“(He) demonstrates the values around total development of students that are so important to the Penn State community.”

” … Provide community and 700,000+ alumni with a point of pride on and off the court”

” … Positively shape the young men and developing opportunities beyond their time at Penn State”

It’s pretty clear she is drawing a strong line in the sand between the previous administration, Pat Chambers, and Jim Ferry and now Micah Shrewsberry.

Barbour didn’t mention either Chambers or Ferry by name, including not evening thanking Ferry for his service this past year.  Not really a surprise given her immediate action at the end of the season, but Barbour certainly didn’t use this opportunity to bridge a gap from the previous coaches.

Barbour was also asked about the exedous to the transfer portal and largely defelcted, instead talking about multiple sports around the campus and how all of the players can trasfer freely.
