Biggest Surprise No. 5

Penn State crowned four individual NCAA champions

If you would have told me at any point during this season that Penn State was going to have four NCAA champions, I would have said you were plain nuts. And this includes telling me at 7:06 pm on March 20th as Roman Bravo-Young was about to hit the mat for his finals match.

For Penn State to win four individual NCAA tiles, the following would have had to happen:
-A Penn State wrestler had to beat the No. 1 seed and Team USA’s Olympic competitor at his respective weight class.
-A Penn State wrestler who never finished higher than 5th at the NCAA’s, never won a B1G title, had to beat the No. 1 seed and the same guy he lost to in the previous B1G final.
-A redshirt freshman Penn State wrestler wrestling in his 14th career collegiate match and his 1st NCAA Championship had to beat the No. 1 seed and the same guy who handidly beat him in the previous B1G final.
-A Penn State wrestlers wrestling in his 1st NCAA Championship had to beat a more seasoned wrestler.
-And ALL OF THIS HAD TO HAPPEN.

Even the most optimistic Penn State fan would call you crazy if you saw this coming.

But it happened, and it was one heck of a night to remember!!

I for one, will gladly take these kind of surprises more often.
