At Penn State Football’s televised Pro Day, Defensive Coordinator Brent Pry spoke about two of his stud defenders who are hoping to hear their name called in the first round of the NFL Draft, Micah Parsons and Jayson Oweh.

Pry had high praise for Parsons and his potential at the next level.

"“Yeah, he’s only scratched the surface,” Pry said on the BTN’s broadcast. “When you think about Micah, he played three semesters of linebacker here at Penn State.  He played defensive end and running back in high school.  The development from year 1 to year 2 was fantastic and from year 2 to year 3 would have gotten the same result.  He’s got great work ethic and instinct.”"

In addition to his transition from edge rusher to middle linebacker, Pry says that Parsons can be a versatile and disruptive NFL defender.

“Micah is a guy that has a skillset to do a lot of things,” Pry said. “One of the ways we were going to maximize his rushability moreso was at the line of scrimmage, from a one point from a two point, I believe he had seven or eight sacks last year and his rushability is one of his best traits…he’s so good at so many things we couldn’t work him everywhere!  He learns very wel and did multiple things for us.  I’m very excited for him moving forward.”

Meanwhile, Penn State Football linebacker Jayson Oweh has flew up many draft boards but has one glaring omission from his “tape” this past year.

Oweh didn’t have a single sack.

Pry was asked about Jayson and how to go beyond the stat sheet, and added that sacks aren’t the only metric that should matter.

“First of all, no concern at all about ‘why no sacks,” Pry said. “rushability is very very good.  Development is going to come, the biggest thing for Jayson this past season was his work ethic, making tremendous strides and faught his tail off at practice every day.  He’s only going to get better and better.”
