Offensive Line

Left Tackle: Rasheed Walker (RS SO) – Landon Tengwall (FR) – Des Holmes (RS JR)

Left Guard: Juice Scruggs (RS SO) – Anthony Whigan (RS JR)  – Nick Dawkins (FR)

Center: Mike Miranda (RS JR) – Juice Scruggs (RS SO)

Right Guard: Des Holmes (RS JR) – Eric Wilson (SR) – Nate Bruce (FR)

Right Tackle: Caedan Wallace (RS FR) – Bryce Effner (RS SO) – Olu Fashanu (FR)

It feels like every year we expect the Penn State Football offensive line to take a step forward and doesn’t quite get to where it needs to be.

Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein will have a normal offseason to work with his guys which should help, especially with the younger players. The position battle to watch is along the interior of the offensive line, as the Nittany  Lions must replace Michael Menet and Will Fries from a year ago.

Scruggs played really well down the stretch of last season and should win himself a starting job, while it seems Miranda would slide over to center. Right guard will be a good battle between Harvard transfer Eric Wilson and Des Holmes. Wilson is finishing up classes at Harvard right now so expect Holmes to get the nod early on.

The tackles both have early round draft potential, and last season once Wallace was inserted in the starting lineup at right tackle, the line saw an immediate marked improvement. If Wallace and Walker are as good as they should be next fall, it will help whoever is behind center at quarterback tremendously.
