No. 1 Aaron Brooks

It’s taken a while, but we’ve finally reached Penn State’s lone No. 1 seed in human wreaking ball Aaron Brooks.

As I mentioned in my title contenders article, there’s not a ton of NCAA experience from the top 4 seeds in the 184 bracket.

I really don’t see many roadblocks in Brooks’ way until he gets to the semi finals. Nebraska’s No. 8 Taylor Venz could be a potential opponent in the quarter finals but Brooks hasn’t had any trouble with him in the previous two matches (fall and 10-5 decision).

In the semi finals, Brooks could either be up against No. 5 Hunter Bolen or No. 4 Parker Keckeisen. I’m going to guess and say Bolen is his most likely opponent and this will also be Brooks’ first difficult match.

Bolen is a dangerous grappler who has had past success against both the No. 2 seed Trent Hidlay and No. 3 seed Lou DePrez. Hunter has a career 5-1 record against those two guys. Yeah. He’s good.

But, I’m sorry Hokie fans, Brooks is simply better and he’ll make his first ever NCAA finals appearance and be matched up against either NC State’s Trent Hidlay or Binghampton’s Lou DePrez.

I personally don’t care who it is, because Aaron Brooks will beat either guy and be the third Nittany Lion to lift a championship trophy in 2021.
