No. 2 Nick Lee

For all of his accomplishments at Penn State, Nick Lee has still yet to win a B1G title or finish inside the top 4 at the NCAA’s. It’s hard to even type that.

Lee’s path is going to be very similar to RBY’s, in that he will also potentially have a difficult quarter final match against Iowa State’s No. 7 Ian Parker. The senior grappler is 13-2 on the year and has compiled a record of 35-5 in the past two seasons. Lee and Parker have also never squared off but when and if they do, it’s going to be a battle of wills and experience for sure.

Having said that, I have Lee moving on to the semi finals where Sebastian Rivera waits once again in a potentially epic rematch. As much as I would love to see an Eierman/Rivera match, I under no circumstances want to see it this year because it would mean Lee lost to Sebass.

I think Lee will be able to pull off yet another amazing win against Rivera in the semi finals, but this time it will be a late takedown in the third period to seal the victory.

And now it’s onto Eierman in the finals where this time, Lee won’t let Eierman throw a saddle on him and ride him out for two minutes in the first period. Assuming Lee can keep the match close and riding time irrelevant going into the 3rd period. He absolutely has a chance to beat Eierman if both guys are squared up on their feet.

Which in my reality is how this one plays out. Nick Lee earns a couple of third period takedowns on his way to earning his first ever NCAA title.
