While Penn State football started Spring practice on Monday, the warm weather also brings about some more heat on the recruiting trail.

The Nittany Lions‘ 2022 recruiting class is off to an excellent start with eight 4-star commits and the No. 6 ranked class in the nation.

The 2022 class isn’t the only focal point of recruiting though. Other classes and topics will grab their fair share of headlines this Spring.

The current team will grab the majority of attention from fans in the next few weeks as Spring camp moves along, but there’s plenty of reasons to not forget about recruiting.

Here’s a look at what to expect from Penn State recruiting in the coming weeks as the weather gets warmer, and recruits start itching to get on campuses …

Visits Galore

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, recruits have been barred from meeting with coaching staffs and officially visiting schools for a whole year now.

The NCAA extended the ban through the end of May, but the expectation is that the ban will not continue beyond that point. There’s obviously many details that need to be worked out, but the Penn State staff has already started inviting recruits for weekends in June.

We touched on these visits last week.

Once visits do happen and things open up, expect things to get hectic. Recruits will be committing and de-committing from schools in masses, as they are able to see other staffs and schools.

Penn State will work to keep their commits in the fold, while also working to bring more recruits on board.
