Jared Sullinger loves Penn State’s Micah Shrewsberry hire, you should too

Not all Penn State Basketball fans are onboard …

There were many tweets expressing disappointment that interim Head Coach Jim Ferry wasn’t given a full-time shot at the gig:

But there were just as many tweets expressing excitement about this new era of Penn State Basketball:

Could the Philly Pipeline return?

Fans in West Lafayette were mostly sad to see Micah leave but happy he’s getting his shot:

The roller coaster of emotions that is #ThePennStateBasketball has been in full force.  In the last 96 hours, Penn State ended their season with a heartbreaking loss to Wisconsin, announced their interest in the NIT, didn’t get an invite to the NIT, and hired a new head coach.

It’s important as opinions run the gambit to remember we are all Penn State Basketball fans and it’s ok to think any or all of these thoughts:

  • Penn State screwed over Pat Chambers in their handling of that situation (especially compared to how Creighton handled almost the same issue)
  • Jim Ferry did a fine job under impossible circumstances
  • Excitement about the new direction of the program
  • One of the best four year stretches in program history somehow only ended in one post-season berth

We’ll see what happens next as seniors decide whether or not they want to come back for a free year and what players transfer in and out of the program without having to sit out a year.  And finally, what are the odds the ONLY power-five program to have an African American head coach in football and basketball resides in Central Pennsylvania …
