What Penn State Basketball needs to happen to secure an NIT bid

First, we have today’s impact game.  Here’s who Penn State fans must root against today:

Cincinnati — vs Houston at 3:15 pm on ESPN.  If Cincinnati wins, you can guarantee Penn State will move down at least one spot in both NIT Bracketology projections.

How Does “Selection Sunday” work?

The NCAA Tournament Selection Show starts at 6:00 pm on CBS.  The NIT Selection Show starts at 8:30 pm on ESPNU.  The NCAA Tournament is normally excellent at keeping their bracket a secret.  Schools don’t know they earned a bid until we are all watching together on television.  We do NOT know if the NIT will work the same way.

This is the first time Penn State Basketball has been on the NIT Bubble in the era of social media (in 2018, they were safely in the NIT, not on the bubble).  Is it possible selections will leak before the 8:30 pm show?  And in the COVID-19 era, with teams potentially opting out, will the NIT Selection Committee have to contact schools prior to the bracket release to ensure they will accept a bid?  We just don’t know.

But, we at Victory Bell Rings are ready to break any news the moment it happens. That’s all part of #theclimb. Welcome to Selection Sunday, NIT style.  #PSUforNIT
