184 – Aaron Brooks – So.

Record: 3-0
Place: 1st

Grade: A++

Wins
No. 9 Nelson Brands (IOWA), 14-8 dec.
No. 5 John Poznanski (RUT), 10-2 maj. dec.
No. 6 Taylor Venz (NEB), 10-5 dec.

What more can be said about Aaron Brooks’ performance in the 2021 B1G Championships? And what more can he do to prove he’s not only the best wrestler in the B1G at 184, but one of the best B1G wrestlers period.

To me, and to probably most Penn State Wrestling fans, Brooks’ opening quarter-final matchup against Iowa’s Nelson Brands was the match of the tournament.

To beat a B1G wrestler on one ankle while also trying to ignore Tom Brands while he was crying his head off over the clear implementation of an injury timeout, was a herculean effort.

And Brooks pulled it off.

Brooks now has the ability to do what no other wrestler in the history of the B1G has done. Win five B1G titles. And for good reason because I can’t think of any possible reason why a wrestler would have the ability to compete for 5 full seasons outside of what we’re currently experiencing.

The way things look in the B1G at 184, I don’t see any reason (outside of injury) why Brooks couldn’t pull this off. At this point Aaron’s only competition lives on the national level.
