Drew Allar commits to Penn State Football: 3 fast facts about 4-star QB
2. He Can Sling It
Allar threw for 2,963 yards and 26 touchdowns this past season in 10 games in the Ohio high school ranks. As a sophomore, he threw for 1,802 yards and 23 touchdown passes.
Allar’s arm strength is so impressive, that 247 Sports national recruiting analyst Allen Trieu compared him to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
If he signs, Allar will have the best arm-strength for a quarterback that Penn State fans have seen since Christian Hackenberg. He is probably more accurate than Hackenberg was at the same time in his development.
Ironically, Allar wears No. 14, which was Hackenberg’s number, and is the number of current Penn State starter, Sean Clifford. It’s become a common number for Penn State signal callers.
His arm is ideal for Yurcich’s deep-threat offense, and will allow Penn State to push the ball down field and create big plays, like we saw in the Joe Moorhead days.
We’ll see more of Allar’s talents this Summer, as hopefully camps open up and he can compete at them and make even more improvements to his game.
