Penn State football landed 4-star quarterback Drew Allar on Monday.

Although Allar is a big get for Penn State, he is a somewhat unfamiliar prospect. He was offered less than two months ago, and has been unable to meet with the staff in person.

Most Penn State fans were probably unaware who Allar was prior to this past week, when his commitment was teased by Nittany Lions commits and the media.

Here are some basic things to know about the future Penn State Football signal caller:

3. This Happened Fast

Less than two months ago, Drew Allar was a little known recruit to the majority of college football fans around the country.

Since then, he’s went from a 3-star recruit to a top 100 player in the nation. Before he received his Penn State offer on Jan. 30, he only had five offers, the most notable being Iowa.

After his Penn State Football offer, Allar collected 13 more offers, which included Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Michigan and Tennessee.

To say his recruitment went from zero to 100 is an understatement.

It’s safe to wonder, if recruits were allowed to visit schools, would Allar have shutdown his recruitment so quickly. Allar and his family did drive to State College back in February to do a self-guided tour, so he did technically get a visit in, but did not meet with the staff.

Penn State Football had to fend off Notre Dame, and it looks as though head coach James Franklin and offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich worked quickly to fight off the Irish.

It is somewhat humorous to see a recruit go from unknown, to the top story for two blue blood fan bases in the matter of a couple weeks.
