Happy Valley Gets Happier? Casino Coming to Nittany Mall

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 03: The Grand Bazaar Shops at Bally's Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip remain closed as a result of the statewide shutdown due to the continuing spread of the coronavirus across the United States on April 3, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered a mandatory shutdown of most nonessential businesses in the state through April 30th to help combat the spread of the virus. Bally’s Casino has officially confirmed the rumors that a casino is coming to our Happy Valley!

The casino will be located in the Nittany Mall, specifically in the former Macy’s location which closed last year.

The Nittany Mall is in College Township, less than five miles from Beaver Stadium.  Bally’s announced their first location in Pennsylvania with investor (and former Penn State trustee) Ira Lubert at an approximate cost of $120 million.  Construction estimates are currently at about one year.  Lubert was quoted:

"“I am excited to have Bally’s as our parner to complement our vision, industry experience and financing capabilities…ogether, I believe we will make his transformative project successful for all stakeholders and look forward to the positive impact the redevelopment will have on our community.”"

Central Pennsylvanian’s have had to decide whether to travel to Harrisburg (Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race), Pittsburgh (Rivers Casino or meadows Casino) or the Poconos (Mount Airy or Mohegon Sun) if they wanted live table games.

This new casino will add significantly to the tax revenue of this town and help attract tourists dollars from nearby counties.
