The final day of the 2021 B1G Wrestling Championships wrap up with several exciting finals matchups for Penn State Wrestling.

Can Penn State Wrestling go 4 for 4?
Will I stress-eat an entire party bag of BBQ chips?
Will Tom Brands do something stupid?

Let’s find out how Penn State Wrestling fared:

Finals Recap

133

No. 1 Roman Bravo-Young (PSU) vs. No. 2 Austin DeSanto (IOWA)

Bravo-Young dec. DeSanto, 5-2

The action got off to a quick start as DeSanto was the aggressor from the opening whistle. He got penetration on a shot but Roman was able to defend it and work his way out.

Next it was RBY’s turn to be aggressive and he landed a shot on DeSanto to take the early lead (2-0). DeSanto then got the easy escape (2-1) and both wrestlers finished out the rest of the 1st period on their feet looking for openings.

Side note. What the heck was up with Tom Brands’ face covering? It looked like he had a deflated punching balloon stretched over his nose.

Roman started the 2nd on top and DeSanto squirmed out early to knot up the score (2-2). RBY then landed a beautiful shot and spin around DeSanto for another takedown to retake the lead (4-2). He then rode DeSanto out for the rest of the 2nd period.

RBY was on bottom to start the 3rd and he was able to escape DeSanto’s grip, however DeSanto was able to cut the riding time to below 1 minute for RBY. Both guys continued to circle the mat with DeSanto looking for an opening.

But Bravo-Young didn’t allow any openings for DeSanto and he was able to hold on to pick up the 5-2 decision and to claim his 1st B1G title at 133. This was a much deserved and long awaited title.
