Penn State’ Football’s 2022 recruiting class has been off to an excellent start.

The class ranks eighth nationally, and they could be getting more good news soon.

The start is promising, but with over nine months until the early signing period, a lot can happen.

We’ve already seen one de-commit, in 4-star tight end Holden Staes. The rest of the class remains solid for the time being, and all seven commits are 4-stars in the composite rankings.

Recruiting can be unpredictable, especially in the Covid era with a lack of visits and in-person contact with coaching staffs.

Here are three predictions for Penn State Football recruiting’s 2022 class.

1. The Offensive Haul Will be Impressive

Penn State Football has had some impressive offensive hauls in the past.

The 2014 class had some of the best players to play for James Franklin, Trace McSorley, Chris Godwin, Mike Gesicki, Saeed Blacknall and Mark Allen. The 2018 class, on paper, should’ve been incredible, but outside of Pat Freiermuth, Jahan Dotson and Rasheed Walker, that class has been underwhelming.

Between Parker Washington, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Theo Johnson, Caziah Holmes and Keyvone Lee, the 2020 class has the capability to rise above the rest.

What may separate the 2022 class is the fact that it may bring about quarterback play that Penn State hasn’t seen since McSorley.

The class already has a 4-star quarterback in Beau Pribula, and could be adding top 100 quarterback Drew Allar soon. The duo would give Penn State Football two legitimate starting options down the road.

In addition to quarterback play, the class currently has three 4-star wide receiver commits and a 4-star tight in the fold.  Receiver Kaden Saunders recently ran a 4.31 40-yard dash at a camp, turning heads.

The class currently doesn’t have a running back commit, but they are targeting multiple 4-star backs, and will likely take two. Nick Singleton headlines the group, with the likes of Omarion Hampton and Ramon Brown are other options.

On the line, 4-star Drew Shelton is already committed. Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein is targeting multiple 4-stars in Tyler Booker, Jacob Allen and Ryan Brubaker.

Only time will tell, but this class has an opportunity to be the most well-rounded offensive haul that James Franklin has brought in.
