Former Penn State Football linebacker Lance Dixon appears to have a plethora of suitors but it looks like he might be headed to a Big Ten rival

When former Penn State Football linebacker Lance Dixon entered the transfer portal at the end of January, it seemed a foregone conclusion he would be headed back home to play for the Wolverines.

His former high school head coach Ron Bellamy had just been hired by Michigan as the safeties coach under Jim Harbaugh. The timing of his transfer and the fact he hails from West Bloomfield, Michigan it seemed all roads led to Ann Arbor.

Rivals.com is reporting that Dixon is apparently down to four teams; West Virginia, TCU, Temple and his home state Michigan State Spartans. However, the feeling is it is really down to the Spartans and West Virginia for the former Nittany Lions linebacker.

Michigan State is in a rebuilding stage under head coach Mel Tucker after they went 2-5 last season in Tucker’s first year at the helm. The defense, a calling card under their past regime, was porous to say the least, finishing last in the Big Ten in points allowed per game with 35.

Dixon would be a nice get for Tucker, who needs to replace linebacker and leading tackler Antjuan Simmons who declared for the NFL Draft. Last season in limited action Dixon recorded 10 total tackles, two and a half tackles for loss and had a forced fumble.

It looks like Penn State Football might not be done hearing from former linebacker Lance Dixon if he decides to stay not only in the conference, but within the same division as well.
