Penn State Wrestling: 5 Bold predictions for B1G Wrestling Championships
By Chris Snyder
Bold Prediction No. 5
Hwt Greg Kerkvliet will take home the crown at heavyweight
It’s official. I’ve lost it and I’m completely off my rocker.
Here’s why this is bold. Kerkvliet will most likely end up as the No. 4 seed, which is mainly irrelevant, and will have to take down both Michigan’s No. 2 Mason Parris and Minnesota’s No. 1 Gable Steveson for my prediction to come true.
Now this could all be null and void if Kerk Kong doesn’t slap on the singlet and wrestle for Penn State in the B1G’s, thus making last Monday’s debut a proverbial carrot on the end of a stick for Nittany Lion fans.
I don’t have any more information than anyone else does, so I’m hoping he’s the guy for the rest of the year. And if he is, I think he takes down the B1G’s best and the nation’s best this coming weekend.
Wrestling against the likes of Seth Nevills, Kyle Snyder, Bo Nickal, Jacob Varner, and Eric Thompson on a daily basis is either a great way to get better at wrestling or in my case, a great way to have my arms ripped off and beaten by them.
The story for Kerkvliet is the same as a lot of the younger guys on the Penn State team. They’ve all achieved greatness in high school and on the world stage and now it’s time for Penn State fans to witness it first hand.
I will now go and place my magic 8 ball back in the closet because it kept coming up “Tom Ryan can’t hold Cael Sanderson’s jock strap” when I shook it. Weird.
