Sloppy first half play gave Purdue an insurmountable lead as Penn State Basketball fell 71-52 to Purdue Friday night at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The first half was a game of runs, but Penn State Basketball turnovers gave Purdue the easiest 6-0 run you’ll ever see, leading to a 15 point halftime lead, the largest of the game for Purdue.

Myles Dread hit three first half three pointers (rest of the team was 2-12) to keep the game close but six horrific turnovers combined with 1-of-5 from the free-throw line (including two missed front ends of one and one’s from Sessoms and Tsimbila) allowed Purdue to control the game.

A blistering 60% shooting performance allowed Purdue to push the lead to 19 and seemingly ending the game at the 13:56 mark.  This was as poor a performance the Nittany Lions have shown, well, maybe all year.

The one feather in Head Coach Jim Ferry’s cap was that this team hasn’t quit on him.

Maybe that changed Friday night.

Penn State Basketball didn’t have a double digit scorer until the 4:30 mark (Myreon Jones, on his 12th shot on the night).

Penn State Basketball never got closer than nine, and Purdue led by as many as 22 as this was never a competitive game in the second half.

Who knows what Vegas was thinking making Penn State a favorite.
