TE – Pat Freiermuth

Pat Freiermuth is among the most reliable and dangerous red-zone targets in this year’s draft, and the consensus No. 2 tight end, behind Florida’s Kyle Pitts.

Freiermuth, 6-foot-5 and 258 poujnds, caught 92 passes for 1,185 yards and 16 touchdowns in 30 games, averaged 12.9 yards per reception while primarily operating down the seam or over the middle of the field. He also never dropped a pass inside the 20-yard line.

In his two-plus seasons as a focal point of the Nittany Lions’ vertical passing game, Freiermuth drew comparisons to Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ All-Pro Rob Gronkowski, a comparison that Pro Football Focus says is an apt one, after awarding Freiermuth an 80.9 receiving grade and and 74.8 run-blocking mark.

“The “Baby Gronk” moniker isn’t unwarranted,” PFF’s Mike Renner writes. “He’s a rare tight end who can impose his will as a blocker and receiver.”

Some team is going to get an immediate starter and high-impact weapon for their passing game, in Freiermuth.
