Penn State Football recruiting is off to a fast start in the 2022 cycle, but several top targets remain on the board

Penn State Football’s 2022 recruiting class is off to a hot start with the fourth ranked class nationally.

Six of Penn State Football’s seven current recruits are on the offensive side of the ball. Despite this, the Nittany Lions still have plenty of holes to fill on offense in the class.

New offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich has been busy offering new players that fit his scheme and that has led to some changes to the target board.

Let’s take a look at the position break down and Penn State’s 2022 offensive recruiting board.

Quarterback

Originally, Penn State Football planned to go ahead with just one quarterback in this class. That one quarterback is 4-star Beau Pribula, who has been committed since the Summer.

It now looks like the Nittany Lions will take another quarterback in the 2022 cycle. The reason being that two quarterbacks transferred out over the off season and they need to fill the depth.

As of today, Pribula, Christian Veilleux and Taquan Roberson are expected to be the only scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in 2022.

Two names have surfaced in Yurcich’s hunt for a second signal caller.

The first is Drew Allar, a 3-star from Ohio. His recruitment has picked up mightily as of late, and he is expected to get a nice ratings boost. Allar is a gun slinger, with a big arm and huge frame at 6 foot 5.

Penn State is in strong position with Allar, and it helps that the hometown team, Ohio State, already has a 5-star quarterback commit.

The other is Nick Evers out of Texas, not to be confused with the Ohio State 5-star QB from Texas, Quinn Ewers. The 3-star Evers was someone that Yurcich kept his eye on while he was at Texas.

Allar seems more likely than Evers, but both are worth monitoring.
