Penn State Basketball weekend watch: How to root against the bubble
By Evan Smith
Bubbles that need to burst …
We will use the great Bracketologist Joe Lunardi as a guide.
Right now, Penn State is the first team in the Next Four Out, essentially meaning it’s the 5th team out of the NCAA Tournament. Let’s start directly behind PSU so no one catches the Lions:
Next Four Out:
Penn State — Hosts Nebraska Sunday at 3:00 pm on the BTN. GO LIONS! (duh)
Maryland — hosts Minnesota Sunday at 7:00 pm. As discussed above, GO TERRAPINS!
Syracuse — hosts Boston College (3-12) Saturday at 2:00 pm on ACCN. GO EAGLES!
St. John’s — next game is Tuesday 2/16 at 8:30 (hosting Xavier)
First Four Out:
Connecticut — at Xavier (11-2) Saturday at 12:00 pm on FOX. GO MUSKETEERS!
Saint Louis — at Fordham (2-10) Saturday at 3:30pm. GO RAMS!
Richmond — hosts St. Mary’s (1-3) Sunday at 6:00 pm on ESPN+. GO SEAHAWKS!
Western Kentucky — hosts Rice (12-9) Saturday at 6:00 pm. GO OWLS!
Last Four In:
Boise State — hosts UNLV (8-10) Saturday at 10:00 pm on FS1. GO RUNNIN’ REBELS!
Oregon — at #10 Arizona (14-6) Saturday at 2:00 pm on ESPN 2. GO WILDCATS!
Stanford — hosts Utah (9-7) at 10:00 pm on PACN. GO UTES!
Colorado State — next game is Saturday 2/20 (at Nevada)
Last Four Byes:
North Carolina — at #9 Virginia (14-3) Saturday at 6:00 pm on ESPN. GO CAVALIERS!
Seton Hall — hosts Marquette (9-11) Sunday at 3:00 pm on FSA. GO GOLDEN EAGLES!
*note: this result would hurt Penn State’s strength of schedule, but it’s strong enough, fans can root against former opponents.
Drake — hosts #22 Loyla Ramblers (17-3) Saturday at 12:00 pm on ESPN2. GO RAMBLERS!
St. Bonaventure — at George Washington (3-9) on Sunday at 2:30 pm on NBCS. GO COLONIALS!
Just a smooth 18 game weekend guide. Let’s go 18-for-18. I mean, it’s possible right? #trusttheclimb
