Way too early 2021 Big Ten power rankings | Where does Penn State Football stand?
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was under fire after a 2-4 season in which it looks like the Wolverines are heading in the wrong direction as a program.
The Wolverines played two quarterbacks in Joe Milton and Cade McNamara but were ever able to get sustainable play at that position. Michigan did average 28 points per game, but will lose receiver Nico Collins to the NFL and running back Zach Charbonnet to the transfer portal.
Defensively they relieved Dom Brown of his defensive coordinator duties after the Wolverines allowed almost 35 points per game last season. Losing star defensive end Kwity Paye to the NFL will not help, and they will count on young players to improve on that side of the ball.
Time will tell if Michigan can get stable quarterback play and return to winning 9-10 games next season, however it seems they are never up to snuff when it matters most and they play another good team.
Harbaugh will either prove all the doubters wrong or be out as head coach. Trips to Penn State football and Wisconsin, with visits from Washington and Ohio State have the Wolverines playing one of the tougher schedules in the conference next season.
