The 1982 Penn State football team was a special group, and early on, they faced a tough task in the No. 2 Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Both teams went into this game undefeated, and it would be a seesaw battle throughout, one that Penn State led 14-7 at the half.

However, this game was far from over, and the teams traded blows in the second half. Penn State went up by two scores in the second half, but Nebraska responded, and a timely fumble nearly did the Nittany Lions in. Skeeter Nichols, filling in for Curt Warner, who had left with cramps, fumbled the ball, giving Nebraska possession near midfield.

That drive would end in a field goal, but after Todd Blackledge was intercepted in the end zone, the Cornhuskers drove all the way down to take their first lead of the game. However, this is where it gets interesting, as Penn State got the ball and began a drive that actually saw them convert a 4th and 11 play.

Later on, Mike McCloskey caught a pass that a review showed was out of bounds, but since review was not used back then, the play stood as a completion. Blackledge would win the game for Penn State with four seconds left, hitting Kiko Bowman for the game-winning score, 27-24.

Penn State lost the following week to Alabama, but then won out, and beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl to be named national champs.
