10. 2016 Big Ten Championship Game

The Penn State football team had never played in a Big Ten title game until 2016 when they won the East Division and took on the Wisconsin Badgers.

Both Penn State and Ohio State finished the 2016 campaign with an 8-1 record in Big Ten play, but due to the fact the Nittany Lions beat the Buckeyes in the regular season, they punched their ticket to the big game.

For Penn State, it was a capper to a year that started with so many question marks, as they were 2-2 through the first four games. It was also a year that showed just how explosive a Penn State offense can be, as stars like Trace McSorley, Saquon Barkley, and Chris Godwin all had their share of highlight-reel plays.

However, in the Big Ten title game, it looked like it would be all Badgers, as Penn State went down 28-7 in the second quarter. From there, Saeed Blacknall made his presence felt, scoring a 40-yard touchdown before the half, and a 70-yard touchdown right after the break. Down three entering the fourth, Penn State was able to come all the way back, as a Barkley touchdown gave them their first lead of the game.

A Tyler Davis field goal put the Nittany Lions up 38-31, clinching the victory for Penn State. Unfortunately, they would lose a thriller to USC in the Rose Bowl and finished the year as the No. 7-ranked team in the country.
