Penn State Football QB Will Levis enters transfer portal
By Evan Smith
Penn State Football quarterback Will Levis has announced that he will enter the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate student. He will have three years of academic eligibility remaining. Levis was a fan favorite due to his cannon arm, although he was mostly used in running situations.
Unlike some student athletes entering the portal, Levis went out of his way to compliment head coach James Franklin, Penn State Football, and the Smeal College of Business.
“I can’t thank coach Franklin and the Penn Sate Football Staff, both past and present enough,” Levis tweeted Thursday. “for everything they have done to develop me both as a player and a human being.”
Levis earned his B.S. in Finance in just three years, and he played Levis significantly more than probably most expected this year with Nittany Lions starter Sean Clifford struggling in the middle of the season.

Levis finished his Penn State career throwing for 644 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. His biggest game of the season was the 41-21 loss to Iowa where he was 13-16 for 106 yards as a starter.
His departure leaves a likely battle between potential three year starter Shawn Clifford (152-251, 1,883 yards, 16 td’s and 9 int’s in 2020) and Ta’Quan Roberson, the dual-threat quarterback and former four star recruit from New Jersey. Roberson appeared in one game this year (Illinois) and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection.
