2. Ta’Quan Roberson

Ta’Quan Roberson is the quarterback many fans will look to as the potential player who can really push Clifford, if given the opportunity, in spring and fall camps.

Roberson has only thrown one pass in very limited action since arriving on campus two years ago. The New Jersey native is a former four-star recruit out of DePaul Catholic, who had offers from the likes of Ohio State and North Carolina.

Roberson is considered a dua- threat but Brian Dohn of 247 sports scouts him as having plus arm strength with a classic and smooth delivery from the pocket. He is athletic and and can be mobile when he wants to be, and Dohn projects him as a power five starter.

His size is a potential concern, as the New Jersey native is listed at six-foot and 185 pounds. However, we’ve seen a certain small quarterback by the name of Trace McSorley have success for Penn State Football.

Yurcich was with Texas last season, and Roberson’s skill set is similar to that of Longhorns star quarterback Sam Ehlinger; a dual threat guy who become more comfortable from the pocket, and under Yurcich in 2020 tied his career high for yards for completion (8), tied his career low for interceptions in a season(5) and threw 26 touchdowns on over 100 less attempts then in previous seasons.

Roberson is the wild card of the quarterback room for Penn State Football.

It would be a tremendous risk getting him his first start of his career at Wisconsin, passing up a player — Clifford — with 19 starts.

However, the best man needs to play. Expect Roberson to jump Will Levis on the depth chart and be QB2 next fall……for now.
