Yesterday we posted our first State of Penn State Basketball.  Now that Penn State Basketball has earned back to back conference wins, after topping Northwestern Saturday night, let’s look back and see what we got right — and what we got wrong.

What We Got Right

  • Izaiah Brockington gets to the bucket: Brockington has consistently beat his defender off the dribble.  But there’s more to discuss about Izaiah shortly …
  • John Harrar is a warrior: Another 10 rebound game to go along with six points, two assists and two blocks (including a HUGE block late).  There’s a reason he received my highest rating yesterday.
  • Seth Lundy can play but his shooting percentage isn’t high enough due to shot selection:  He was 2-for-8 from beyond the arc Saturday night because many are off the dribble or fading away or both.  Having said that, one was huge as the Nits trailed by four with four minutes left.  And he was 4-4 from the free throw line as our team’s best free throw shooter.   He added seven rebounds,  two assists and two steals to go with two turnovers and four fouls.  We don’t win last night without Lundy but I still think the ceiling is higher.
  • Myreon Jones is steady as heck:  15 points on just 10 shots … eight rebounds … three assists … three steals … Yeah, I gave Harrar the best grade Saturday morning, but Jones is one of the most skilled players we’ve seen wear the blue and white.

Unrelated note, when’s the last time Penn State Basketball  wore the blue jerseys? …
