The relationship with the Maryland super power started in 2014 when Penn State signed running back Mark Allen.

It continued in 2016 when 4-star defensive end Shane Simmons joined the program. He was the highest rated  defensive recruit Franklin had brought in at the time.

The Nittany Lions then went three straight cycles without signing a player from DeMatha, but regrouped in 2020 by grabbing two.

Penn State signed 4-star defensive lineman Coziah Izzard and 3-star offensive lineman Golden Israel-Achumba in that class.

There aren’t any notable 2022 targets at DeMatha, but there are tow big, early ones in 2023. Defensive end Jason Moore and quarterback Cam Edge are both at DeMatha and Penn State is high on both of the sophomores so far.
