Eddie Smith is fresh off of winning a National Championship with the Alabama Crimson Tide this past Monday, and entered the transfer portal shortly thereafter.

The Louisiana native is a former three star recruit in the 2018 class, and unlike Griffith did not have an offer from the Nittany Lions.

He is a versatile player who can play multiple positions in the secondary, but saw limited game action with the Tide. However, that does not mean he can’t play, as it seems every year the Tide have a player who was relegated to the bench in his early years come out and become a star, and then go on to be early round draft picks.

Smith may not have seen a path to playing any time soon at Alabama, and would be a risk for Penn State football based on his lack of game tape, however could be worth a shot as even if he is not a play and play starter, would have two to three years of eligibility left.
