Prior to taking the job at Texas, Yurcich spent one season at Ohio State as the Buckeyes’ quarterback coach.
In another nod that this hire was made with improving Clifford in mind, Justin Fields had his most productive season while working with Yurcich, completing 67.2 percent of his passes for a career-high 3,273 yards with 41 touchdowns and three interceptions.
Bringing knowledge from a Big Ten rival, particularly the Buckeyes, is an added benefit to hiring Yurcich, along with his experience in the Buckeye’s fertile recruiting ground as a Euclid, Ohio native.
