Former Penn State Football standout cornerback Grant Haley pulled down his first career interception in his first game with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday

Former Penn State Football cornerback Grant Haley made his debut for the New Orleans Saints Sunday, after being activated from the practice squad, and made a big play in his NFL return.

Haley, with 9:39 remaining in the third quarter of the Saints’ victory over the Carolina Panthers, pulled down an interception of Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

His interception off Bridgewater was the first interception of his career.

Haley, originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Giants back in 2018, appeared in 25 games and started 12 for the Giants prior to getting released out of training camp this summer.

A former standout during his time with the Nittany Lions, Haley now has 76 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, and one interception in his career. In New Orleans, Haley reunited with former Penn State Football assistant coach Phil Galiano, so there was obviously some familiarity with what Haley is capable of once he arrived in NOLA.

The Saints secured the NFC South division championship and a home game in the NFL Playoffs with Sunday’s victory over Carolina, and it will be interesting to see if Haley is once again active next weekend when the Saints host the Chicago Bears. If Haley plays next week, it will be his first career postseason appearance.
