This team can play defense.

Against an experienced Wolverine team, the Lions forced 16 turnovers with seven steals (led by Wheeler’s 3).

Despite struggling on the offenseive side, the defense refused to allow Michigan to run away with thame.  Despite being outsized significantly, Michigan only outrebounded the Lions by 1 (36-35).  Even with 20 free throws (yes, the Lions HAVE to stop fouling, even if the refs put Michigan in the bonus six and a half minutes into the 2nd half when Michigan had only been called for 2), Penn State held Michgan to only 62 points.

For a team coached by their former offensive coordinator (BTN announcers love talking about that, don’t they…), the defense gave them a chance to win late.

Freshman Abdou Tsimbila played meaningful minutes again with another nice block and four points.  Except to see more Tsimbila and less Buttrick at the 5 moving forward, especially as it’s now evident that Ferry won’t run Harrar more than 25 minutes a game.
