The accolades continue to roll in for the Penn State Football as senior Safety Lamont Wade has been selected to the 2021 East-West Shrine Bowl.

Penn State Football senior safety Lamont Wade has been selected to the 2021 East-West Shrine Bowl.

Going on for more than 90 years, the Shrine Bowl is the longest running college all-star game, which gives some of the best college talent a chance to showcase their skills in front of NFL scouts.

The Shrine Bowl is in addition to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, however unfortunately for Wade, this year differs in that the actual game itself has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Wade is projected as high as a fourth round draft pick by some sites and would have benefited from this game as a chance to potentially improve on that status.

The Clairton, Pa native has put together a very solid career for Penn State after he was moved to safety following his freshman season. Wade came to Happy Valley as a 5-star recruit and was recruited as a cornerback by James Franklin originally.

Wade is the second Nittany Lion in as many years to be chosen to the East-West Shrine Bowl, after offensive lineman Steven Gonzalez played in the all-star game last year.

In his second season as a starter Wade has racked up 33 total tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries thus far in 2020. Wade had a stellar junior season, totaling 64 tackles, two sacks and three forced fumbles, including two key takeaway’s in Penn State’s clash with the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus.

Wade will go through senior day festivities and play what figures to be his final home game at Beaver Stadium this Saturday as the Nittany Lions host the Michigan State Spartans at 3:30 eastern time.
