Well, well, well.  Penn State Basketball  absolutely destroyed their first ranked opponent of the year, beating No. 15 Virginia Tech 75-55 on the road.

Just a day ago, commiserating about the brutal Seton Hall loss, I wrote an article describing ways to lose a game.  One of those ways was when the opponent shoots the lights out.  And that’s exactly what Penn State Basketball did to the ranked Hokies team in their home gym Tuesday night.

Most impressive was after blowing a nineteen point lead just 48 hours ago, Penn State Basketball refused to allow Virginia Tech to ever get back in the game.

The smallest lead the Nittany Lions held in the second half was 17 points with 19:07 to go.

Penn State shot 52.2% from beyond the arc and 50.0% from the field.  Despite committing more fouls (17-12) and being out-rebounded (39-33), Penn State committed just five turnovers (compared to 14 for Virginia Tech).  About the only area of concern was the Lions shooting 3-8 from the charity stripe but when you beat a ranked team on the road by 20, we’ll live with one bad statistic.  And most importantly, after having 3 players foul out vs Seton Hall, not a single Lion had more than three fouls tonight.
