Penn State has added a member to its 2021 recruiting class in wide receiver Harrison Wallace.

Wide receiver Harrison Wallace Wallace, who had been committed to Duke since mid October, announced the flip to Penn State Football on Monday via Twitter.

A 6-foot 1, 180 pounder, Wallace hails from Pike Road, Alabama. He is Penn State’s first commit from Alabama since Christian Campbell and Torrence Brown in the 2014 class.

With the addition of Wallace, the 2021 class moves up slightly to 21st nationally. Wallace is a composite 3-star, but he is ranked much higher by 247 Sports, who ranks him as a 4-star and a top 247 player.

Wallace is another big get for first year wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield, who has now secured the commitment of four 4-star receivers between the 2021 and 2022 classes.

He is only the 15th member of Penn State’s class, that has drawn lots of criticism due to misses of top targets. The poor showings on the field haven’t helped recruiting, but that may start to change now.

The performance of  WR Parker Washington may be becoming a strong recruiting weapon for the Nittany Lions, as he is playing and playing well as a true freshman. Keandre Lambert-Smith is also starting as a true freshman at wide receiver. This shows recruits that if you’re good enough, you will play no matter your experience.

Wallace’s other notable offers included Maryland and South Carolina. He received his Penn State offer on November 18, so this is something that staff has been working on for the past three weeks. It is an impressive flip, considering how new the relationship is with Wallace and that he has never visited State College or Penn State’s campus.

With the recruiting dead period extended into the Spring, the staff will have to close on the remaining 2021 targets without being able to see them in person. It can be a difficult task, especially when your on field play isn’t helping you, but the Nittany Lions are off to a good start in being able to close on these targets.
