Penn State Football joins exclusive College Football club after beating Rugers
Penn State Football joined seven other programs among a historic club following Saturday’s 23-7 victory over Rutgers
Penn State Football joined an exclusive club among college football bluebloods after beating Rutgers Saturday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions became just the eighth program in the history of college football to record 900 victories.
While 2020 will go down as one of the most disappointing seasons in the history of the Penn State Football program, the Nittany Lions will take some solace in joining Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska as the only FBS schools to reach 900 wins.
Following the victory, Penn State is the ninth-winningest program in college football history, as Yale has 916 victories but is no longer a member of FBS.
Saturday’s victory was also the 58th in head coach James Franklin’s tenure at Penn State.
Penn State improved to 2-5 on the season, with just one game remaining on the schedule, next Saturday against the Michigan State Spartans at Beaver Stadium. That game will determine where the Nittany Lions finish in the Big Ten East division standings and their opponent in the inaugural Big Ten Championship Week.
